The Great Expectations Foundation was created by Rent One's owners, Larry and Sharon Carrico, to enhance the lives of children throughout the Midwest by awarding grants to communities, organizations and groups aimed at helping children age birth to 18.
The Great Expectations Foundation awards grants two times a year for programs aimed at children's education, fitness and wellness, and emotional and spiritual development. As a local and national foundation, Great Expectations makes it possible for smaller communities that may not have access to financial assistance get help for their younger residents so that they have the opportunity to develop as individuals.Visit Website
St. Louis's three Ronald McDonald Houses serve families with seriously ill or injured children by providing a "home away from home" near area hospitals so families can be together during their children's treatments. In addition, RMHC provides support to organizations that serve the needs of children.
The Houses are designed to bring the comforts of home to families far away from their own homes with a comfortable bed, a warm meal, kitchen and laundry facilities, and toys for the kids. The Houses offer parent and family members a break from hospital waiting rooms with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, and play areas for children. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year RMHC supports these families through support from volunteers and donors, and families often pay a small donation to support the continuation of services.Visit Website
Feeding America is on a mission to feed the hungry with the help of a nationwide network of 200 member food banks. It has grown into the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the U.S., serving 46 million people—that’s 1 in 7 Americans—and providing 4.3 billion meals annually. Those who receive these meals include 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
In addition to ensuring the hungry get fed, Feeding America strives to help these individuals achieve a level of security and strength that will allow them to flourish in the future. This organization works tirelessly to gather a healthy variety of food from retailers, distributors, manufacturers and farmers before it goes to waste. Feeding America also conducts in-depth research to better understand and raise awareness about our nation’s cycle of hunger and poverty.Visit Website
