Washer Style
Top- and front-load washing machines offer similar functional features such as cycle options, temperature, and wash speed, but vary in style and accommodation of preferences and habits.
Top-load washing machines
These have been the mainstay designs for decades. Inside, an agitator forms a central spindle at the height of the washtub. During each wash load, the tub fills with water twice over (wash and rinse), and the agitator moves the submerged items through the water.

Front-load Washing Machines
Turning the washtub on its side enabled new technology and advances in water and energy conservation. As the drum begins to spin, the clothes are lifted to the top of the drum by the fins and then fall back into the water to loosen and drive out the soil.

What Does High-Efficiency Washer Mean?
High-efficiency (HE) washers use less water to clean a load of clothes. Front-load washers are usually HE units, but top-load washers with an HE setting can also be ENERGY STAR certified. They require HE detergents, concentrated products that are low-sudsing and use less water and energy than traditional machines. Choosing a high-efficiency washer and dryer set could be the right decision for your home.
Dryer Type
If you don’t know how to tell the difference between an electric and gas dryer hookup, you’re not alone! In your laundry area, you will see an outlet that indicates which dryer is compatible with your home.
Electric: These dryers require a dedicated three- or four-prong, 240-volt outlet
Gas: These dryers hook up to your natural gas connection for heat, plug into a three-prong, 110-volt electrical outlet for overall operation, and require an external exhaust vent
Capacity
Capacity is an essential factor to consider when choosing a rent to own washer and dryer. These appliances are long-term investments. Standard-capacity dryers typically range from about 7.3 to 8.3 cubic feet. If your washer has a 3.5 cubic feet capacity, for instance, then look for a dryer with 7.0 cu. ft. This 1:2 ratio gives a full load of wet laundry enough room to dry efficiently.
